Basic Tips for Intex Swimming Pools

The summer heat can become fairly unbearable at its peak. Resultantly, it is highly likely that you, like many people, wish you had a swimming pool in such times. Fortunately, owing to the availability of Intex swimming pools, you can. These are inflatable, above ground pools that would not require you to either spend a lot of money, time or effort in setting them up in your backyard. However, despite the multiple benefits and the easy to use design of these swimming pools, you will still need to take care of them and maintain them. There are a couple of very simple things that you can do to protect your swimming pool, if you are planning to buy one. Here are some tips:

Licenses:
It is possible that some states and countries would require you to have a permit or license to have a swimming pool in your backyard, irrespective of the fact that it is an inflatable swimming pool. Although Intex swimming pools usually do not require licenses and permits to be installed, it would be wise if you check and make certain of this.

Laying surface:
Like every inflatable thing, Intex swimming pools are also susceptible to being punctured by a sharp object. This is the major threat to Intex swimming pools and hence you should do everything to prevent this. Apart from not allowing sharp objects near the pool, you can do something before installing it that will help ensure its safety. This is the clearance of the surface in which you plan to lay your swimming pool. You will need to clear the area of objects such as sharp stones, twigs, etc. Another benefit of doing this is that you would not injure yourself when you are walking on the bottom of the swimming pool.

Leveling:
Although Intex swimming pools are designed to withstand a lot of pressure, they also have their limits. Therefore, you need to ensure that they do not have to withstand pressure that is beyond what they are capable of. For this, you will need to make the laying area as flat as possible because water can create a lot of pressure when the swimming pool is on a slope. Moreover, this pressure can, in the long run, really take its toll on the structural integrity of the swimming pool.

Filling it up:
Even though you do not need to, it would not be a bad idea to hire a professional team to fill the swimming pool for you. Many people recommend this because then the Intex swimming pools do not take a long time to get ready. Another advantage would be that if your supply of water needs to be treated in some manner then the professional team would be able to treat it appropriately.
Intex swimming pools do not require a lot of maintenance, apart from the little steps listed above.

Furthermore, these maintenance tips are very basic in nature and do not cost a lot of money or a lot of effort.

The Benefits of Intex Swimming Pools

Every time summer comes, people start getting restless and try to finds ways to beat the heat. The best way to counter the peak summer heat is to have a pool in your own backyard. However, not everyone can afford a conventional and classy swimming pool. Furthermore, installing a conventional swimming pool may require you to acquire licenses and permits from your local authorities. Even if you are a person who cannot afford a swimming pool or who does not have enough time to get the appropriate licenses, it does not mean that you have to give up on your dream of surprising your wife and children with a swimming pool this summer. You can sidestep the issue of finances and licenses by way of Intex swimming pools.

Intex swimming pools are designed to resolve exactly the kinds of problems mentioned above. They are swimming pools manufactured by Intex that do not require you to dig up your backyard or hire a professional staff to handle the installation and maintenance of your pool. Instead, they are inflatable, above ground swimming pools that you can set up by yourself without any professional help.

Resultantly, Intex swimming pools are considered to be the wave of the future. Additionally, they are soon expected to displace conventional swimming pools altogether with respect to market share. The following are some benefits of having Intex swimming pools in your own backyard.

Installation:
Unlike the conventional swimming pools, Intex swimming pools are extremely easy to install and uninstall from your backyard. In fact, the only tool you will need to install your very own swimming pool is a screwdriver. Also, the installation process of these swimming pools is so simple that they do not even require a professional team to install them. Instead, you, with a couple of your buddies, can easily install the pool in a matter of an hour or two. Furthermore, the conventional swimming pools are more permanent in nature with all the cementing and digging that takes place. These types of swimming pools, however, can be disassembled and then stored in the winter leaving your backyard free for other uses.

Cost:
As mentioned earlier, Intex swimming pools are, by far, the cheapest option available to you when it comes to swimming pools. These types of swimming pools not only save you money in the initial purchase but you also save money in the future, as the maintenance costs are almost negligible.

Variety:
There is a whole range of Intex swimming pools that you can choose from. Some models provided by Intex include easy set pools, metal frame pools, oval frame pools, rectangular ultra frame pools and round ultra frame pools. All these varieties have their own advantages and your choice will be entirely dependent on your preference more than anything else.

Therefore, as is more than obvious, Intex swimming pools are very beneficial for any family with respect to almost all considerations including, time, space, ease and money.

Product Description
The Solar Spa Ring is made from two sheets of heavyweight U.V. resistant vinyl and applies solar heating technology to maintain the temperature of your spa. The clear layer directs sunlight to the blue layer where the sunlight is absorbed and converted to heat. Spas without covers loose much of their heat overnight and regain very little during the day. At night the contained air acts as an insulating blanket to retain heat gained during daylight. Your spa will loose less temperature overnight and will heat up quicker, saving you money! Spa Ring can be trimmed to fit spas and hot tubs 68 to 102 inches. One size fits all spas…. More >>

Five Models of Intex Swimming Pools

Gradually, the majority of the country’s population is moving towards Intex swimming pools because of the multiple benefits that they offer. The biggest advantage of Intex swimming pools is the fact that they are not as expensive as conventional swimming pools. Moreover, they are not even permanent in nature and are more or less portable, unlike conventional swimming pools. However, despite the multiple advantages of Intex swimming pools, the number of options available to you can result in you getting put off and deferring your purchase. On the contrary, the availability of so many options is actually a blessing in disguise because it will allow you to find a model that is ideal for your needs. In order to help you make a better choice, the following are the most popular five models of Intex swimming pools and their descriptions.

Easy set swimming pools:
This model of Intex swimming pools is the most famous and sold model in the country. The reason for this, as the name suggests, is the fact that they are extremely easy to setup and do not even require a trained professional. These types of swimming pools are simple, above ground inflatable types of swimming pools that allow a lot of options within their category. These swimming pools are available in a variety of sizes, ranging from the basic eight feet in diameter to the colossal eighteen feet.

Metal frame swimming pools:
These types of swimming pools are metal frame based but are still easy to setup. These swimming pools are easy to setup, despite having a metal frame, because they have a pin and snap joint that does not require the use of tools to be functional. The size of these types of Intex swimming pools varies between ten feet and twenty-four feet in diameter.

Oval frame swimming pools:
These types of swimming pools can be deemed to be a hybrid rendition of the easy set variant and the metal frame variant. This is because they contain a metal frame on the sides and an inflatable ring at the top.

Rectangular ultra frame and round ultra frame swimming pools:
These two types of Intex swimming pools are pools that have strong sides and a very sturdy nature. Furthermore, they are bigger in size, which allows for more space to be available to the swimmers. Despite being very sturdy and allowing for so much space, these pools still do not require a professional team for setup and are easy to assemble.

It should be noted that all Intex swimming pools come with a complete kit and are not just a single item pool. Things that are included in the package are a water pump, a ladder for getting in and out of the swimming pool and a filter for keeping the water clean. Furthermore, another aspect that makes the installation of these pools so easy is the fact that they are accompanied by a DVD that carries crystal clear instructions for the person installing the pool.

Those lucky enough to own swimming pools will know of the many joys they bring. However, they will also be well aware of the fact that their pools are also big energy users. Over the years, the amount of money spent on heating even small pools can run into the thousands.

The good news is that these energy bills can be dramatically reduced by using the free power of the Sun through a solar water heating system. Solar thermal is so effective it can save up to 70-80% of pool heating costs as well as providing huge carbon savings.

Solar thermal pool systems also provide one of the fastest paybacks of all renewable energy installations. Payback is generated typically around 5 years from installation.

How does solar hot water heat a swimming pool?

Solar water heating collects free energy from sunlight in a solar collector and uses this to heat a fluid that is circulated in pipes.

Typically the solar collector is typically either a flat plate solar panel, or one containing solar evacuated tubes. This is attached to a south facing roof or placed on a free standing support.

The fluid running through the collector is quickly heated by the sun and, due to thermal insulation, will get hot even in fairly levels of low sunlight. The hot fluid is then piped into a domestic water cylinder where it releases its heat to the water through the process of conduction.

The solar thermal panels can work alongside existing boilers and heat exchangers and offer a base load of natural heat that helps to dramatically reduce running costs. Alternatively there are systems that heat the pool water directly.

Once installed solar thermal pool heating costs very little to run, only a pump and controller are needed, requiring minimal electrical power.

The beauty of a solar thermal system is that they can also be sized to meet the needs of any pool. From domestic indoor or outdoor pools through to large scale leisure centre pools.

Considerations for Solar Water Heating for Swimming Pools

Anyone considering installing solar hot water for their swimming pool will find it useful to have the following information to hand, to help professional installers assess the size and needs of their system.

The surface area of the pool.

Its’ average depth.

Whether it’s indoor or outdoor and information about the location and insulation levels.

How the pool is covered (if at all).

Its’ seasonal usage pattern.

The make and size of the boiler (if used).

Location to put solar panels.

Details of plant room (if used).

The temperature the pool is to be heated at.

Another important consideration is to ensure you use an industry accredited installer. In the UK look out for accreditation such as the Microgeneration Certification Scheme . It is important to make this part of your criteria for choosing an installer as not having a recognised accreditation may affect the validity of product warranties, future service agreements and above all, your eligibility for green grants.

Freesource are Microgeneration Certification Scheme approved solar water heating installers and comply with industry guidelines. They have a wealth of experience in supplying and installing renewable energy products on a range of projects.

Even though most people think of solar power as a great way to generate free electricity from sunshine, there are others ways the sun can help you save money on your energy costs. Swimming pool solar panels have been released in recent years that can help you heat your pool for free by harvesting the sun’s warming rays. Solar pool panels are easy to install, last for decades and can heat your pool to a very comfortable temperature with nothing more than sunlight.

Heat Your Pool By Concentrating the Sun’s Heat

These solar panels are a very specialized device that concentrates the heat from the sun in a series of weatherproof panels. Inside these panels is a webbing of very thin pipes that are exposed to the sunlight. The water from the pool is circulated through the panels and when it travels through the webbing of pipes it is heated by the sun and returned to the pool as slightly warmer water. This process continues until the pool is at the desired temperature and then the water is diverted away the panels and circulated normally.

A Simple System Means a Simple Install

The appealing thing about these solar pool heat systems to most homeowners is its simplicity. A typical system consists of a number of these swimming pool solar panels that are mounted on a roof near the pool. These panels made specifically to heat pool water are connected together with a single pipe and then tied into the circulating pump on your pool. Once this connection is made you can start to use the system to warm your pool water immediately. The system is simple enough to install on a typical pool in a few hours. There are also very few moving parts and this helps ensure that you’ll have years of service from your swimming pool solar panels without the worry of repairs.

Directing Flow to Control Pool Temperature

In addition to the specialized solar panels for pools used in the system, there is also a thermostat and a valve assembly that work together to direct the flow of water. This water flow will either be through the system when heat is needed or around the system when the pool is has warmed up to the desired temperature. Even though these swimming pool solar panels can operate as an independent system, they can also be tied into a modern pool control system just like a conventional heater. This allows you to control the heating of the water through your pool system to regulate its temperature.

Calculating Your Heating Needs

To figure out how many swimming pool solar panels you’ll need to adequately heat your pool you’ll need to know the approximate surface area of the pool. To completely heat a typical pool, you’ll want to install enough swimming pool solar panels to represent about 50% of the pools total surface area in panels. For larger pools this can mean quite a few panels, but they are not that expensive and will cost you far less than a conventional heater over time.

Prices May Vary

The cost of one of these solar pool heat systems can vary based on the size of your pool, but can typically be installed for a few thousand dollars on most pools. This is a very reasonable cost when you consider that the only fuel it will ever need to heat your pool is sunlight. These solar pool heat systems can be used on any pool and will need to be drained when the pool is closed for the winter in colder climates. This is to prevent the water that is circulated through the swimming pool solar panels from freezing during the winter months.

Solar power is a rapidly evolving technology and you can harness its latest advancements for heating your pool. Solar pool heating is cheap, reliable and cost effective in any setting. If you’re interested in just how the energy gets from the warmth of the sun to the warmth of your pool, here’s a rundown of the process.

Pool Solar Heating – What is it and how does it work

Solar heating recirculates your pool water through a system of mats or panels on a roof. Each panel normally consists of smaller fine tubes which heat the water as it passes through. Despite claims, performance is normally less a factor of brand than a factor of system set-up. The performance of a system depends on the amount of tubing on the roof, how well it faces the sun (orientation) and the general weather conditions (including hours of sunlight and wind).

Most systems work by “cutting into” the plumbing near the filtration system and diverting the recirculating pool water to a roof solar collector. The water is heated by passing through the solar collector, then directed back from the roof to the plumbing near the filter. The piping used to and from the roof from your filter is normally PVC plumbing pipes and fitting (i.e. the same type as your filtration system uses). The plumbing will also need a few “gate valves” (or taps) to control diversion of water-flow from the normal path to the solar collector instead.

How much solar collector space do I require on the roof?

To effectively heat with solar, the general rule of thumb is that you require a solar collector that is equivalent to between 75% and 100% of the water surface area. For example, if the pool is 8m by 4m, the surface area is 8 x 4 = 32 square meters. A “75% system” would require 24 square meters of roof collector. A more powerful and effective “100%” system would require 32 square meters of roof collector.

For best performance, your roof and solar heating panels should face north. A north facing roof gets sun all day. If you have to use an east or west facing roof, don’t be too concerned as this can still work quite well. You might however add an extra panel or two to make up for the slight performance loss.

Options to consider:

A Booster Pump - Pumping the water to and from the solar collector on the roof can take a lot of work. How much work depends on the distance between the filtration system and the solar collector. If the collector is some distance for the roof in question, you will probably need an additional pump (e.g. 0.5 to 0.75hp). This pump operates concurrently with the main pool pump, taking the strain off your filtration system.

Automatic Controller – Automatic controllers decide when and when not to run the solar pool heater system. One basic function is that of a thermostat, stopping the system when your desired temperature is reached.
A more important function is that of deciding when to run the system.

For example:

Let’s say your pool’s water temperature is 21 degrees, while your target temperature is 23 degrees.
While you might be inclined to keep running the system, it might be advisable to stop the system running further.

The classic example would be a sunny morning followed by a cloudy afternoon. While running the system in the morning makes sense, continuing to run during the afternoon may actually chill the water as it passes through the collector (robbing you of valuable pool water heat).

Finally – Cover Your Pool

Remember- While your solar heating system sends heat to the pool, the pool is also losing heat.
Most heat loss occurs as simple evaporation at the pool surface. This can have a dramatic chilling effect on the pool water. For your pool temperature to rise, you must add heat to the pool faster than it is being lost.

One way to improve the heating capability of your system is to have a larger collector. A smarter and more economical way to achieve the same goal is to use a pool cover to reduce the rate of heat loss.

Example:

A covered pool with a 75% collector area may outperform a 100% sized collector where the pool is uncovered. Basically, adding a pool cover is like “turbo charging” your solar heater’s performance.
